Film production company Palatine Productions has produced an emotive micro documentary for the Australian Cotton Shippers Association (ACSA) tackling the job of showcasing the many elements of Australian cotton production to the international market. Most people would not be aware of the enormous processes that Australian cotton undergoes from the seed first planted on the farm to its final export. However, that is all about to change. Following the success of its Back to Nature micro documentary which opened the Natural Fibres Fashion Parades for EKKA 2017, Palatine Productions was thrilled to be commissioned by the Australian Cotton Shippers Association (ACSA) to create and produce a film to showcase the ACSA brand and to tell their story.
The Australian Cotton Shippers Association (ACSA) is an association that represents the traders who buy and sell Australian raw cotton. Its primary function is to promote Australian cotton in export destinations. As quoted by ACSA’s Chairman Cliff White, “it is all about presenting our product and we were looking for something that would have high impact and support our efforts in promoting Australian cotton. With virtually all Australian cotton going to export markets, we were looking to tell the Australian cotton story through a visual medium that could connect without language or cultural impediments.”
The film titled Australian Cotton – naturally the best is designed to tell the story from seed to ship and does so in an epic four minute aria. From hyper slow motion of the seeds falling elegantly into a hopper, to drone shots of tiny, delicate seedlings, to the incredible spectacle of the fields under full irrigation. The harvesters dwarfed in the fields of fluffy white, the rumbling gin machinery, the ultra high tech classing facilities and the futuristic robotic machines at the port of Brisbane. Without saying a word, the film shows an industry that holds its head well above the others when it comes to world class technology but is also a wondrous journey for the audience. The film was debuted to a captivated audience in Turkey, back in March 2018 and is now available for viewing on the ACSA website as well as on Palatine Productions.
Producer of Palatine Productions Sharen Kenny says her team has loved every minute of making this production. “We can’t speak more highly of working together with ACSA and our wonderful cotton industry,” Sharen said. “All our participants were so enthusiastic about coming on board for filming and were very excited about the ACSA project. It has been such an incredibly positive outcome for everyone seeing all the various processes come together to showcase as one, our incredibly strong Australian cotton industry to market.”
Australian Cotton – naturally the best will be showcased at the 2018 Australian Cotton Conference at the Gold Coast from 7 to 9 August 2018.
