Animals Can Dance is a new children’s picture book by Lee Keenan that is undeniably heart-warming, illustrating the world through the wonder-filled eyes of Poppy, a young girl who loves to dance.

Her favourite dance partner is Maxi, her small grey cat, but Poppy’s brother doesn’t believe that cats can dance, so Poppy goes on an adventure around the world, from Australia to Thailand, Scotland to Brazil, and India to Russia. It is essentially the story of a sister adamant to prove her point, and dance with her cat.

Author Lee Keenan grew up in the northern suburbs of Sydney during the 1980’s, and ever since she has always been drawn to the fantastic world of children’s literature.

Her passion drove her to complete not only a Bachelor of Education, but a Diploma in Business Management, and a Diploma in Children’s Professional Writing.

She has worked alongside young children, from 0-12 years old, for 15 years and has read more children’s books than she could ever possibly count – her own collection of children’s literature reaches high into the hundreds.

As well as an author, Lee is educator, entrepreneur, wife, and mother to two kids. When she isn’t writing children’s books or creating online educational materials to assist educators to extend children’s learning, you can find her cooking, running, or on a new adventure with her family.

Animals Can Dance is accompanied by illustrations by Steven Bybyk and Natalie Khmelovska.
