The Medicinal Plant Cycles Series by Renata Buziak opened at USQ Artsworx on Tuesday 5 March. With its roots in historical photographic processes and botanical art, the exhibition focuses on local Australian healing plants from Minjerribah / North Stradbroke Island. By embracing aesthetics, chance and extended periods of time to create the work, the research project draws on natural science and extensive consultations and discussions with members of the Quandamooka community of Minjerribah, and aims to present nature as events, not as static objects; an ongoing cycle of decay and renewal; and to increase awareness of the significance of local Australian flora.
