Every two years, the Miles community extends a warm country welcome to visitors, providing the opportunity to experience the beauty and charm of rural life, whilst celebrating all that embodies life in the bush. Miles is in the heart of Australian bush and a convenient and picturesque two and a half hour drive west of Toowoomba. Visitors to the Miles Back to the Bush Festival from Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 September can start their day with a signature Western Downs sunrise before embarking on an adventure with a jam-packed program offering something for everyone.

Ease into the weekend with one of the many tours available – the Garden Tour includes a Pub Lunch at Dulacca. Join locals at the Gala Dinner where guests will be treated to a delicious meal of homegrown beef prepared by a celebrity chef then dance the night away with fabulous entertainment. Gather some friends and join in the Bush Trivia Night, testing your knowledge and sharing a few laughs. What better way to kick off a big day than with a Street Parade? Saturday’s program includes a Monster Tractor Pull, Dog Jumping, Horse Drawn Carriage Rides, Pony Rides, Beard Appreciation and both a Tough Bugger Challenge and Little Bugger event.

The Antiques Expert in Residence is always a crowd favourite, so dust off your treasures and bring them along to discover their history and have them valued. Join the Vintage Collections Tour or a hands-on experience of everyday life in the bush with a Farm Tour, Gallery, Garden and Gas Tours and Tag-a-long Fishing Tours. There is a Bush Poets Breakfast too – the perfect combination of a hearty bush-styled breakfast paired with the entertaining and humorous renditions of bush tales. Step back in time at the famous Miles Historical Village and stroll through the incredible array of collections lovingly restored and maintained for future generations to enjoy. Stroll around and admire the Car Show and Aircraft Display.

After a day out, relax and soak up the serenity of expansive country landscapes, listening to the sounds of local birdlife nesting in nearby bushland and enjoy a stunning display of brilliant oranges and pinks painting the skies in a sensational sunset as darkness falls revealing a breathtaking blanket of stars.
