The annual Winter and Camellia flower show was a great success once again this year. The 11th annual show was on the weekend of 19-20 July in time to showcase the wonderful range of Camellias in flower at this time of the year.
The show is a major fundraiser for the Toowoomba Hospice and is run entirely by a group of dedicated volunteers. A few new attractions this year included a gourmet food pavilion that seemed to keep busy for the whole weekend and the talented work of local artists was showcased by Tosari Galleries who had a flowered themed display.
The show really does have a strong community vibe with contributors including the local floral art group, the wood turners, local nurseries, craft displays and service clubs.
TAFE Qld South West (formerly SQIT) again played host to the event and contributed by selling plants on behalf of the Toowoomba Hospice. The exact amount of money raised for the hospice has yet to be tallied but hopefully will be heaps to reflect a great weekend.
