The 2018 Assumption College student leadership team excels in a myriad of fields.

Academic Captain Mary Higgins is a true all-rounder. Aside from academic excellence, she was awarded the Lions Youth of the Year Public Speaking Award for 2018, took out the Age Champion trifecta for swimming, athletics and cross country last year, and has been awarded the Zonta Young Woman in Public Affairs. After completing Year 12, Mary intends to travel to Belgium for a year of exchange where she will immerse herself in European culture and learn French.

Team sport is a significant part of Sports Captain Joe Gordon’s life, currently playing for the U17s Warwick soccer team, and captaining the South West Queensland U16 soccer team last year. While Joe is looking forward to tertiary study, his current focus is contributing to the school community. Stephanie Lockhart, who is the college Leader of Faith and Social Justice, has been awarded the ADFA Long Tan Youth Leadership Award. As Netballer of the Year, she was one of the youngest Queensland State Age Champion Netball players to also umpire and coach.

Stephanie aspires to study a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. Cultural Captain Ailish Wallace has a passion for dance, recently receiving the Legends Trophy at Maclean Highland Gathering. She is co-chair of the Environmental Committee and plans to complete her Highland Dancing exams to become a dance teacher. Her dream is to travel overseas to Europe after school as an au pair, before returning home to study psychology and communication.
