The Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) has joined forces with TAFE Queensland to launch Be Our Guest, a new training program aimed at getting Warwick and the Southern Downs business community ready in the lead up to Polocrosse World Cup 2019.

SDRC wants locals to put their best foot forward and show off the region as an ideal destination to live, work and play. Businesses are being called on to take part in a series of workshops in retail, hospitality and marketing to help enhance business performance and ensure visitors to the Southern Downs experience the very best of what the region has to offer – from the moment they arrive until it is time to leave. Outside of the Gold Coast in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games, SDRC is the only council to facilitate this TAFE Queensland program which prepares its business community to excel on the international stage.

Taking place across seven days in Warwick, the Polocrosse World Cup will see the world’s best battle it out in the unique sport. Combining the strategy of netball, the toughness of rugby and the ball skills of lacrosse, polocrosse is an Australian-made sport where action, power, skill and pace dominate. Celebrating 80 years in 2019, the Polocrosse World Cup will bring players from eight countries – Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, USA, UK, Ireland, Zambia and Zimbabwe – to southern Queensland.

Beginning on Monday 22 April 2019, the event takes place over seven days in Warwick, with spectator numbers are expected to be in the tens of thousands for this world-class event.
