The Felton Valley had a record-breaking 12,000 people attend the region for the annual Felton Food Festival last Sunday, 10 April 2016. The festival celebrates our farmers and fresh produce, and educates our children about where food is sourced.
The festival is a much-loved event providing fresh food, market stalls and entertainment for the whole family; this year the Felton Food Festival celebrated the Year of Pulses. Celebrity chefs Matt Golinski, Glen Barratt and Alison Alexander cooked up a storm, while celebrity gardener, Costa Georgiadis and George The Farmer entertained and educated the kids. The Felton Farm Fossick with Rabobank was a successful and creative way to get the kids involved with the day and asking questions about farming.
More than 80 market stallholders enjoyed the day, the contents varying from fresh food and drinks to local, homemade crafts. Some of the stallholders proclaimed that it was the ‘best produce market in the world’ and some even sold out of their goodies, but all were ecstatic with the turn out. To top it all off, the Felton Raffle crew raised record funds through the World’s Biggest Chocolate Wheel.
All in all, the Felton Food Festival was a huge success, and the 2017 festival is already in the making!
