The Glenvale State School rugby league team is kitted out in smart new uniforms thanks to a generous donation by local Italian restaurant, Vapiano. The school reached out to Grand Central traders in late 2018 while planning their October fete, raising funds for new classroom technology and sporting equipment.

Vapiano restaurants have a strong desire to support the local communities, and Vapiano owner and managing director Will Cooke said he was happy to get involved. “We initially received a request for prizes that could be used for a fundraising raffle but we thought we would do one better and donate the jerseys for the team. Vapiano Australia Restaurants have humble beginnings and that is why it is so important for the company to give back to the local community surrounding the seven different locations nationwide,” he said. “We pride ourselves on building grass-roots relationships within the local community and we are really excited to support the Glenvale State School Rugby League team,” Mr Cooke said.

Mr Cooke presented the new jerseys to the team at the school parade on Monday morning. Vapiano will also sponsor the school’s player of the match award this season, with a free meal and drink for the weekly winner.

Glenvale State School Principal Dave Saxton is pleased to have Vapiano’s support. “Glenvale State School really appreciates the generous donation from Vapiano. The students are excited about wearing their new jerseys. I think they’re quite happy to eat more pasta so they can run faster!” said Principal Saxton.
