Westridge & The Ridge Meats will once again serve up ham for diners to enjoy this Christmas. The family owned and operated butcher has gone from strength to strength in the past 24 months, winning Australia’s Best Ham for the second time, in 2017, along with other outstanding awards, including Toowoomba’s Best Pie and Best Ham.

Owners Luke and Michelle Jensen have strong ties to the Toowoomba community and believe in giving back. Their popular 2017 Christmas Ham Run saw Luke, Michelle and their son Hugh taking a trip to Sydney to appear on Channel 7’s Sunrise. Luke and Michelle donated $5 from every ham sold on The Ham Run to Jeans for Genes. “The final donated tally last year was $6500!” said Michelle. “This year, we are taking the concept up a notch with the Holiday Ham Drive, which is an innovative tweak to the traditional pie drive concept,” she said.

Schools and businesses are invited to take part, and once again, $5 from each ham will go to a nominated charity. So far this month, five schools have signed up and have nominated for their fundraising dollars to go towards a new playground, next year’s musical, upgrade of the tennis clubhouse and air conditioning for classrooms. The Commonwealth Bank has also jumped aboard and has nominated its fundraising dollars to go to Clown Doctors. A Brisbane based Police Station is donating its funds to Police Legacy.

Westridge Meats launched its new website this month. Its fresh new format allows customers to find out more about the proud history of the business, the local farms where meat is sourced, and of course, the Holiday Ham Drive. The online shop is available for ham and other locally sourced cuts of meat, along with gourmet cakes, preserves and popular Christmas fare.
