I Fly Toowoomba launched on Friday 25 May, supporting the growth of air services to the Darling Downs region. Some of the region’s peak tourism and business entities such as Tourism Darling Downs, Southern Queensland Country Tourism, the Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE) and the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce have joined forces with Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport to bring the campaign to life.

Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise CEO Ali Davenport said air travel was vital for the success of the region. “Having the ability to fly directly to Toowoomba from other Australian cities means that business people, investors and tourists can get here quickly and easily,” Ms Davenport said. Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport general manager Ms Sara Hales said the airport had received strong community support since it opened and the campaign was designed to encourage ongoing advocacy in the community. “I Fly Toowoomba is a growing community movement powered by people who believe in our region, and who believe that we deserve great connectivity for our families and our businesses,” explained Ms Hales.

The I Fly Toowoomba pledge can be taken by both businesses and individuals through an easy online process on the airport’s website. A business taking the pledge can benefit from a number of co-operative marketing initiatives alongside the airport and individuals are encouraged to share their From Toowoomba to The World story by uploading a short video. “Pledge takers can feel proud to be actively embodying the From Toowoomba to The World message. We thank them for standing beside us as we grow air services for the region,” said Ms Hales, “Connectivity is important for our region and air services play a big part in the economic and social growth of the city.”
