School Captains Franz Keutmann and Rachel Sturgess, both keen, charismatic role models in the Pittsworth State High School community, are eager to improve community connections across the school during 2018.

Since commencing at the school in 2015, Franz has been a positive and respectful member of the school community. Receiving the Furnishing and Engineering Excellence Award, Franz also received a TAFE Outstanding Vocational Student Award after completing his Certificate III in Agriculture with a local dairy farm in 2017. Interested in the building and construction industry, Franz signed up for a Certificate I in Construction, a course run by Downs Group Training. The course was completed within 12 months and he was signed off. In 2017, he also commenced his Certificate III in Fitness, a two-year course that he is thoroughly enjoying. In the future, Franz plans to earn a trade, although he is currently debating whether it will be in electrical or carpentry.

Rachel Sturgess is an active member of the school community through both her academic and sporting endeavours. Since her enrolment at Pittsworth State High School in Year 8, she has made an extra effort to become involved in the community, receiving the Debra Community Award in 2014 and in 2016 receiving the Long Tan Leadership Award. These awards encouraged her to pursue an active leadership role in her senior year. Since Year 8, Rachel has excelled academically receiving Art and Modern History subject awards and the USQ Award for Academic Excellence in 2016. She strives to encourage the participation of all students regardless of age or ability. In the future she hopes to pursue her passion for helping people by studying and working in the health and community sector.
