Our Lady of the Southern Cross College’s Student Leadership team for 2018 is a fine group of young men and women who take great pride in their positions.

This year, Lachlan Malone and Laura Cook are leading the college as Captains, supporting students to do the best they can. Laura has been a member of the Dalby Junior Chamber of Commerce and is a Eucharistic Minister and reader at St Joseph’s Parish. Last year, she was on the Queensland under 16s Futsal team. In her spare time, she likes to draw, read and be with family and friends. Laura plans to undertake further study at the University of Queensland, and aims to work in an industry where she can help people and make a difference. Lachlan is heavily involved with the Dalby PCYC and is a volunteer in the group YMT — Youth Management Team. Here, he helps to organise laser skirmish, movie nights and sausage sizzles.

His involvement with YMT has enabled Lachlan to travel to Cambodia twice, where he helped to construct a total of eight houses. On his second visit to Cambodia, Lachlan travelled as a team leader. Lachlan enjoys scuba diving, playing rugby and guitar, which he teaches outside of school. He plans to join the Police Force after completing school. Laura and Lachlan are supported in their roles by Prefects Levi Kraut, Shivai Vakade, Claudia Nothdurft and Mya Vadasz. The team hopes to achieve unity throughout the college, embracing the Catholic values that are the foundation of the college community.
