The Historic Leyburn Sprints return to the Southern Downs township on august 19 to 20, for the 22nd annual celebration of classic motoring.

An eclectic array of around 200 cars from the 1920s to the modern day is expected for two days of time trials on a one kilometre, closed road street course. Adding to the entertainment are the popular Shannons Show‘n’Shine competition, vintage caravan display, country food, market stalls, live music and more for the whole family to enjoy.

This year’s program also will feature spectacular shows by the Flair Entertainment motorcycle stunt team, with hair-raising jumps and manoeuvres.

The Sprints commemorate one of the most significant times in Leyburn’s history, when the 1949 Australian Grand Prix was staged on an ex-wartime airfield track just outside of town, attracting more than 30,000 spectators. The spirit of the Grand Prix lives on at the Historic Leyburn Sprints. The competitors share an unmatched camaraderie, and spectators are invited to

see the cars close up.

Join an expected 10,000 guests at the Historic Leyburn Sprints and experience one of the most popular events on the Australian historic motorsport calendar.

Tickets are available for purchase at the gate, with gates open from 6.30am daily.

Adult entry is $20 per day, or $30 for a Weekend Pass. Entry is free for children under 14 years. Camping is available beside Canal Creek.
