Mater Dei Primary School‘s charitable Golf Day event has raised almost $5000, all of which was generously donated to Blush Cancer Care Inc, a not-for-profit organisation that raises funds to support local women undergoing treatment for breast cancer and their families.

Thanks to the generous Mater Dei Primary School’s Parents and Friends (P&F) Association’s donation, Blush Cancer Care will be able to offer more services to its breast cancer patients. The donation of just under $5000 was raised at the school’s recent charity Golf Day, which is held annually in honour of past Mater Dei staff members Sam Power and Patty Brady who both lost their battles with cancer.

Mater Dei Parents and Friends Association president Andrew Edwards said the organising committee was again very thankful for the support of the school and the community. “The P&F is very keen to foster family and community spirit at the school,” he said. “This is a day for dads to come together and help the P&F raise some funds for a worthwhile, cancer related support service within the local community. Dads get a chance to have some fun and at the same time raise some funds that can be directed towards much needed critical services for those in need who are part of the families of the school and broader Toowoomba community,” he said.

Blush Cancer Care Inc president, Dr Sharyn Donaldson said Blush was extremely grateful for the generous donation. “Blush Cancer Care Inc can now ensure we can provide more Fight Back With Fitness opportunities for our patients as well as offer them more education and one-on-one support, and ultimately help make a difference to breast cancer patients and their loved ones going through difficult times,” she said.
