The McGregor Music School Summer Retreat is a great opportunity for musicians, singers and songwriters to ‘add another string to their bow’ from 7 to 13 January 2018.

With a contemporary-pop-jazz flare, the seven-day music school is suited to musicians of all levels and those who have studied classical music and want to expand their repertoire. Particularly geared towards musicians who want to pursue a career in the music industry, it is also a great opportunity for any artists over the age of 15 who are passionate about music and want to sharpen their craft.

The program gives participants the opportunity to broaden their abilities as a musician. The music industry is always changing, and the school gives students the opportunity to create with leading tutors and other musicians, collaborate with artists and make connections with active industry members.

In addition to participants’ general area of interest, they will also choose an elective, including composition and arranging, improvising, recording and music technology, songwriting, and performance strategies. Kate Miller-Heidke will be joining the school to talk directly with participants about the industry.

All students will receive a free ticket to Kate’s concert, where she will be performing with the Toowoomba Concert Orchestra. She will be joined by guitarist and former McGregor Music student Keir Nuttall.

In this supportive recreational setting, students will record and produce their ensembles track in the studio and then come together to perform in a public concert.
