SCOTS PGC Year 9 student Will Gilmore is one of the College’s most successful athletes. Will commenced at the College in 2010 as a Year 1 student with his two older brothers, Toby and James. It seems natural athletic and academic ability runs in the Gilmore family, with all three boys celebrating many achievements in various areas of their College life.

A keen swimmer, Will represented the College and the Darling Downs region at the Queensland State Titles earlier this year, where he placed third in the 50m butterfly event. He also competed the previous year at the same level of competition. Will has just returned from the Queensland State Titles for athletics, where he placed fourth in discus and second in the hammer throw event, earning him a spot on the Queensland team to represent the state at the National Titles.

Will’s talent does not stop there he is also a gifted rugby player who has represented Queensland as part of the Queensland Reds (Under 15 team) and the Under 14/15 Queensland Country team for the last two years. In 2017, the Reds took out the national title, which Will described as a real highlight.

Described by his teachers as a “driven and focused young man”, Will strongly believes persistent hard work and always trying your best is an underlying trait that all athletes have in common.
Will sees himself pursuing a career related to sports science after his time at SCOTS PGC. He is excited about what the next few years have in store for him and is eyeing off a leadership role as his senior years at the College approach.
