The Darling Downs is so rich in history, agriculture (coming from a farming background) great climate, the arts and wonderful people.
As the recipient of the Mary Wagner Honour at this year’s The Downs Women in Business Awards, what is it about this matriarch that you find inspiring?
A very dear friend, Mary’s Christian beliefs which she has carried through life, her family commitments and her charitable work is never ending.
Favourite foodie haunt in the Downs region?
Sofra Turkish restaurant in Toowoomba is great, and for a country pub, the Brookstead Hotel.
This summer, I will be spending more time…
It will be no different! I will be working with the organisations I am involved with. I chair six of them, Beauaraba Living Foundation, Gardens of the Downs, Pittsworth’s Anzac Day and Pioneer Village Advisory Committees, DownsSteam Tourist Railway and Museum, President of the Pittsworth Rotary Club. My dream is to see DownsSteam become an active tourist railway running trips across the Downs.
The best way to unwind after a busy week?
My animals are my escape. I love getting outside on my small farm and caring for my goats especially on weekends. Or doing crosswords with my two sisters on a Sunday afternoon.
Ultimate holiday destination?
During my life, I have had some wonderful overseas trips but there is one ultimate holiday I wish to have and that is in Tuscany.
