Queensland Youth Week events will be held from Friday 6 to Sunday 15 April across the Southern Downs region as an opportunity for those aged 12 to 25 years to be heard and make a difference in their community.

To celebrate the event the Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) is hosting Park Beats, a series of free outdoor concerts showcasing the talents of the region’s budding musicians.

Local artists will take to the stage for Park Beats events in Stanthorpe, Warwick, Killarney and Allora from Friday 6 to Saturday 14 April.

SDRC has engaged Stanthorpe’s Andy Wilmott from Soular Music Services to support rolling out the concerts. A line up of musicians are set to perform a mix of modern, acoustic and contemporary hit songs, including vocalist Elle Rudd, Chris Giacca, the Fern Brothers Singers, Rod Wilmott and Dustin Robertson.

A number of groups, clubs and organisations across the region are also hosting Youth Week events, which will be included on the Southern Downs Queensland Youth Week calendar.

Headspace Warwick, Stanthorpe Fitness Centre, Bullecourt Boulder Bounders Orienteering Club and Stanthorpe Junior Writer’s Group are just a few local organisations taking part in the week. Final submissions for the event calendar are now closed and more details will be released soon.

Local groups, clubs and organisations who wish to host Queensland Youth Week events can apply for up to $1000 worth of funding through Council’s Fast Grants program.
