Grand Central Shopping Centre and The Event Group have joined together to give some tips about the do’s and don’ts for field-side fashion ahead of this year’s Spring Polo at Queens Park on Saturday 29 September.

Grand Central Marketing Manager Marieke Bridgeman said the centre was excited to be supporting Spring Polo again this year. “Spring Polo has become a must-do event in Toowoomba’s calendar, and with over 130 fashion and beauty retailers, Grand Central is ideally placed to get you ready for the event,” she said. Marieke said the new season fashion is arriving in stores now offering a wide range of options for clothing footwear, hats and sunglasses to complete participant’s polo look. Maree Parsons from The Event Group said casual clean looks and flowing spring flare are ideal for a day at the polo. “There will be opportunities to get active throughout the day during the Divot Stomp and mingling with the players and the horses, so a little practicality is required to maintain that air of class.”

Ladies who are joining Spring Polo are advised to wear relaxed, feminine dresses cut just above the knee, maxi dresses, or longer playsuits. Stylish sun hats, sunglasses and head scarves are ideal outfits but no fascinators. Ladies could have fresh make up with natural hair, and they should wear some stylish flats or wedges instead of heels. Oscar Oscar Salon Partner Hollie-Jay Taylor proposed top three hairstyles for ladies with polo – the Half Pony, Textured Waves and the Low Pony, enabling the ladies to have a natural and elegant look on that day. Gentlemen are advised to match their tailored shirts with dress shorts or chinos achieving a polished, yet casual look. They could wear chinos or a tailored pant paired with loafers, or two-tone brogues in addition of classic shirts or even some gingham with a bow tie. Blazers, sports jackets and stylish hats will all offer great polo style. Steer clear of dark suits, t-shirts and thongs are also recommended.

All the participants of the Spring Polo will have a chance to take out a Grand Central Fashions on the Field prize – with the most stylish lady and gent and runners-up taking home gift cards. Marieke said people attending the Polo should also look out for the Grand Central photo booth near the entrance to the event. For touch-ups during the day, the Priceline Pharmacy Beauty Tent will also be at Spring Polo to give you a complimentary freshen up.
