Murder on the Starship Genesis is a completely immersive, interactive, sci-fi murder-mystery.
Limited to three performances on July 1, 2 and 3, First Coat Studios will host its first ever theatre production in the new gallery space at 3/140 Margaret St (GPO Building). Local thespians, designers, musicians and artists have come together to collaborate on this exciting new project that will combine the best that Toowoomba has to offer in visual art and immersive theatre. The space has been completely transformed into the interior of a campy 70s starcraft, the likes of Lost in Space or Star Trek, only much more intricate and… bizarre.
The show asks the audience, the “Passengers” of the Starship Genesis, to solve a murder mystery by uncovering evidance within an interactive set with the help of the “Crew”. As a unique experience, attendees are allowed to retain their autonomy as in a video game. They may walk around parts of the ship, attaining clues and interacting with its various otherworldly occupants.
This production will take the audiences aboard The Starship Genesis, built into First Coat Studios, to meet its crew and join the voyage to strange new worlds. Under the brave leadership of the “handsome and gallant” Captain Gal. X. Zee, there is no corner of the cosmos that is too dangerous. With strange beings from other worlds, robots so sophisticated they are indistinguishable from humans and complimentary space ale, it will be like nothing like the audience has seen before. The Murder on the Starship Genesis is guaranteed to be an adventure that is out of this world!
The production has a strict lock-out requirement, so it is imperative that you arrive to the Gallery on time. The season is strictly limited, so do not miss out!
