Hamish Cover has enjoyed a range of musical, sporting and academic endeavours during his time at Dalby State School.

Commencing Prep in 2013, Hamish has a family legacy at Dalby.  His brother Hunter completed his schooling at Dalby State School in 2017. Both Hamish’s parents are active members of the school’s P&C and support the school in providing a range of opportunities for all students to excel. 

Hamish has had many successes throughout his primary education, receiving several academic excellence awards. He has also participated in the Speech and Drama and Instrumental Music sections of the Eisteddfod. Musically minded, Hamish is a member of the Senior Singers and music programs. He has participated in ICAS exams and received a distinction in ICT and credits for Science and Maths in 2018 and also participates in the STEM program. Hamish aspires to a career in IT and is keen to explore innovation such as coding, robotics and computer programming.

Hamish’s family loves adventure and discovering new places around Australia and the world. Hamish has been to Europe, the UK and Hong Kong. In Australia, he has visited The Great Ocean Road, Dinosaur Country and the desert including Uluru. He also trail rides in the winter and plays tennis. His love of books enables him to extend his knowledge on a diverse range of subjects.

Dalby State School believes that all children are individuals with individual needs, and that catering for student’s differences is critical. Dalby SS strives to extend, challenge and stimulate students to accommodate their learning potential through the school extension program. Hamish is a fine example of a student who has excelled when supported by the program.
