Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport has received a Business Excellence Award in the Construction, Infrastructure and Natural Resources category of the 2018 AustCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards (ACBAs). The ACBAs recognise Australian and Chinese companies that work between the two countries in the Greater China region. This year was the 25th anniversary of the awards, with the gala evening being held on May 17 at the Hyatt on the Bund Hotel in Shanghai.

General Manager of Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport Ms Sara Hales accepted the award on behalf of the airport team at the ceremony in Shanghai. “We are honoured to accept this prestigious award, which recognises our efforts to create direct business opportunities between our region and Asia. We are very proud of our airport. Its importing and exporting capabilities are growing from strength to strength and creating far reaching international trade opportunities for local and national exporters,” she said.

“Cathay Pacific Cargo operates the only international wide-body freight service in Queensland, which runs weekly between Toowoomba and Hong Kong. More than $10 billion is currently being invested in various infrastructure projects in our region, so from a national perspective, Toowoomba is fast becoming a major logistics, infrastructure and export hub,” said Ms Hales.
