During the month of September, The Lighthouse will host talented local Toowoomba based artist Anna Battle’s new exhibition, Shiny Happy Art. Commenting on the exhibition Battle said ‘When Emma offered me the opportunity to have the Write Gallery for Carnival of Flowers month, being known for my colourful, floral artworks, I had to say yes!’
Battle will fill the large, bright space at The Write Gallery with painted flowers, paper flowers and colour, including an art lounge and a dream dining table. The Shiny Happy Art + Ideas Show promises to be more of an experience than a static show. The space will change and grow throughout the month as the space adjusts for visitors, events and workshops. Throughout the duration of this exhibition, Battle will be demonstrating her art skills in a variety of media, offering a selection of art activities and discussing her artistic processes.
She also saw the exhibition as a handy deadline for her and her family to bring some of her years of ideas to life. At the opening event (which happily coincides with Father’s Day) Anna is launching Turkey Smugglers, board shorts ‘For Men Who Are Bigger Than’. Turkey Smugglers is a family project that has been percolating for years and Battle says it’s fabulous to see it finally come to life and “solve the ‘what to buy my dad/husband/boyfriend for Christmas/Birthday/Father’s Day’ problem.”
