The AusMumpreneur Awards presented by The Women’s Business School celebrate and recognise Australian Mums in business achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, product development, customer service and digital innovation. The awards are designed to recognise the growing number of women who successfully balance motherhood and business in a way that suits their life and family.
Sheryl is a proud mum of four beautiful children. She divides her time between caring for them, and building her organic cosmetics and skincare brand – Athonika. With a background in beauty, Sheryl ran her own salon and was inspired to create her own range of salon quality organic products. A labour of love, she has spent the last six years learning how to design and create products. She came up with the brand name Athonika – a blend of two words meaning gift of God and warrior – and with minimal assistance (and many many hours of tireless work) has found her way to launching her first amazing product, and is now well on the way designing multiple ranges for specific skincare needs.
Sheryl is delighted to be named as a finalist and is proud of her achievements, particularly being shortlisted for not one but two categories. The idea for Sheryl’s business had been in her mind for some time. “As with many leaps of faith, it often takes a shock to the system to get you to reassess what is important and gain perspective.
“I had a major health scare that jolted me into wondering how long we actually have in this life, and realising this idea that had been lingering in the back of my mind for 2020 AusMumpreneur Awards so long, should become a priority. It was time to seize the day, take on the challenge and bring my dreams to life before it is too late.”
