Maranoa Regional Council received their first gold at the Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA), 2016 for their 2014/15 Annual Report. After seizing the Bronze Award last year, they produced an even better annual report this year, in line with the ARA criteria.
The ARA is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteer professionals. It encourages a high standard of communication pertaining to financial and business information and compiling it in the form of an annual report. Special awards have also been introduced which include areas of Sustainability, Governance, Work Health and Safety, Online Reporting and Communication.
Maranoa Deputy Mayor, Jan Chambers said being recognised by ARA is an achievement, and shows that the Council has taken time to communicate with the community and build a relationship. “This prestigious award recognises Council’s commitment to communicating to the community effectively and demonstrating good reporting”, Ms Chambers said.
“One of Council’s strategic priorities for 2014-2019 is finances and it is encouraging to see clear and concise information about Council’s business and finances continued to be reflected in our Annual Report.” Ms Chambers said.
