The craft beer phenomenon has been sweeping the world and now it’s Toowoomba’s turn to embrace the best of the world’s boutique breweries. Some of Toowoomba’s finest drinking venues are banding together this Saturday, November 14, to launch the inaugural Toowoomba Craft Beer Festival, Brewoomba 2015.
The venues involved are The Spotted Cow, Tapestry Bar and The Mort Estate Hotel. Each will be specialising in something a bit different, giving connoisseurs new educational beer experiences throughout the day. Tickets can be bought on the day, and the $35 price tag includes unlimited free shuttle bus transport between the venues and three free beers (conditions apply). The three pubs will be open to the public throughout the day.
The three venues have put together an impressive list of beers, food and events (some of which will incur extra charges) for the day. Each will have a different regional focus with the beers on offer. Mort Estate will be focusing on international brews, offering beers from the USA, Scotland, Belgium and beyond; Tapestry will champion the local drops with a Queensland focus (including Green Beacon Brewing, Newstead Brewing Co and the Granite Belt Brewery), and The Spotted Cow is brave enough to be shining the spotlight on NSW breweries, with drops from Stone & Wood, New England Brewing Co and Rocks Brewing Company, to name a few. All in all, beer enthusiasts will have a ball trying new ales and comparing notes along the way.
The Spotted Cow has some original and exciting events, with something for every punter. Expect Belgian waffles served with Lobethal Bierhaus (chocolate oatmeal stout); oyster shucking with beers from Murray’s Craft Brewing Co; a pinball competition and the lady’s only beer high tea master class. From 8pm they’ll keep the spirit of beer drinking alive with a countdown of the top 20 beer songs of all time.
Tapestry bar will be hosting the educational Beer College throughout the day. Subjects include the Holgate Brewhouse Masterclass; Fortitude & Fromage, hosted by Ian Watson and featuring Australian beers matched with Witches Chase Cheese; and the Mountain Goat Boilermaker Masterclass, which includes four limited release Mountain Goat beers matched with whiskies from Australia, USA, Ireland and Scotland. Tapestry will also be serving up delicious food, including dishes like the brisket burgers served with summer slaw and chipotle mayo.
Meanwhile, at Mort Estate, if you love a new beer experience, the line-up of international beers will keep you very excited. The guys at Mort have selected some incredible, top-ranking beers from breweries like Stone Brewing Co. St.Bernardus, Rodenbach and Founders Brewing Company.
Get behind this great festival and bring your best beer drinking buddies. Punters are reminded that responsible service of alcohol will apply, so get involved and enjoy the day responsibly.
