The 6th solo exhibition by artist Bruce Griffiths continues his move from more traditional country landscapes and seascapes with his exhibition “The Contest and the Field”. His love for the outdoors continue to make his watercolour paintings truly inspiring and suitable for any space. He still works by the modern, never paint where you haven’t been and never paint what you cannot feel. A lifetime of fishing and the bush has instilled a love of the outdoors, which is the preferred subject of his paintings but is increasingly looking within the subject seeking out the stories of life. This exhibition continues his look at new frontiers while including homage to his learned images of Australia, the capture of mood and atmosphere of the sea and his beloved landscapes.
Bruce will forever be indebted to his early days with world renowned Australian based artists Robert Wade OAM, Robert Lovett, Greg Allen, David Taylor and Joseph Zbukvic – “A very rich heritage to widen one’s horizons. It simply opened my eyes to what was possible.
No stranger to Toowoomba region, he had a petite display gallery at Highfields, a previous Solo Exhibition at Fiore gallery in Toowoomba and is pleased to return for this show at Crows Nest.”
