Around 1800 people gathered at the Burrandowan Race track on Saturday, May 14, to enjoy fine autumn weather and racing. Race club president Brendan McCormack was thrilled with how the day panned out. “We had a fabulous day with great crowds who enjoyed every aspect of the day. Strong fields in each of the five races, alongside a full betting ring, high heels, hats and fashions combined for a terrific picnic race day,” McCormack said. The Taabinga Station High Tea in the historic Chaphingah Hall was also well received, with over 100 people enjoying delicacies, while the Gourmet Hampers ensured lunch at the track went smoothly. A percentage of profits from the Burrandowan Picnic Races will be donated to support RACQ Care Flight and also local charities, including service clubs and school P&Cs – organisations that are vital to small rural communities.
