The annual Bush Christmas Exhibition is being held from December 2 to 11.
Come and share this great celebration of talent while enjoying an outback experience, without the dust and flies. Purchase unique local handmade Christmas gifts and hampers, different from those you would find in the shops. From artworks and jewellery, to ceramics and garden art, books and toys to homewares and textiles, leather and men’s ties to gourmet delights and skin care products, there truly is something perfect for everyone on your Christmas list.
The concept was developed when a group of women in Western Queensland saw artistic talent lying unnoticed in rural and remote areas. Through her work with Outback Creations, Cunnamulla, where local artists sold their works, Bush Christmas organiser Liz McClymont found many artisans wanted to market outside their local area. As a result, Bush Christmas was born. The exhibition has grown considerably over the years, and is now a well-known showcase of creative, imaginative yet practical handmade gifts with an emphasis on quality and diversity. Success at Bush Christmas has encouraged artisans to develop skills and build confidence in their artistic and creative ability. Sharing the excitement with artisans when their talent is recognised is one of the greatest rewards of the event. Encouraging a greater understanding and interest in the bush and its people is its goal.
Bush Christmas Exhibition is held at Masonic Centre, 58 Neil Street, Toowoomba, next to Empire Theatre. Open from 9am to 6pm daily, with free admission.
