Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland has started the new year by making a $95,500 donation to the community.
Toowoomba’s iconic Christmas event, Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland hosted by the Lions Club of Toowoomba West, celebrated its milestone 20th Anniversary in 2022. The event raised $95,500 for the local community. Across the event’s 22-night run in December last year, Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland welcomed 72,000 visitors. The venue, Queen’s Park Botanical Gardens was perfect for attendees to experience the joy of Christmas. On Thursday, the Lions Club of Toowoomba West and committee members of Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland presented funds raised to beneficiaries. These include Toowoomba Hospice, Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, and Lifeline Darling Downs and Southwest.
Lions Club Member and Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland Chairman, Marshall Cox praised the commitment of Toowoomba’s West Lions to the event. “There isn’t a member of the Club who didn’t contribute, in some way, to the success of this great community event. With a club of 45 members, that’s an outstanding effort from everyone,” he said. Mr Cox also praised the contribution from members of the community who volunteered 7226 hours to assist with set up, nightly activities and pack up of Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland. “Without the assistance of these generous people the event wouldn’t be possible! Volunteers are the backbone of any community event and Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland is no exception,” he said.
“With thanks to our Club members, volunteers, and our generous community who came out in support we’re excited to announce that Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland will contribute $95,500 back to our community through our beneficiaries. “We couldn’t be prouder to gift this incredible donation to Toowoomba Hospice, Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, and Lifeline Darling Downs Southwest. “Thank you to everyone who made our 2022 Toowoomba’s Christmas Wonderland magical and a great success.”
