George Helon was presented as a Nominee in the prestigious Australia Pacific LNG Community Hero Award by The Hon Coralee O’Rourke MP, Minister for Communities and Minister for Disability Services and Seniors at the 2019 Queensland Community Achievement Awards Gala Presentation Dinner, held at Royal on the Park Brisbane on Friday 29th November.

The Awards were hosted by 7NEWS Presenter Kendall Gilding, and almost 400 guests gathered from across the state to celebrate Queensland’s high achievers. George Helon of Kearneys Spring has been instrumental in enriching the lives of hundreds of people who would have otherwise found themselves disadvantaged during times of trauma, accident, emergency and hospitalisation. The awards have been encouraging, acknowledging and rewarding the valuable contributions that individuals, communities and businesses are making throughout Queensland. These awards recognise those that work tirelessly to improve their communities by promoting the social, economic and environmental prosperity.

George Helon is a historian, lecturer, author and genealogist; an etymologist and ethnographer; a theologian; a social commentator, and a Justice of the Peace, and is  recognised as one of Toowoomba’s POWER100: The Region’s Most Influential People. Winners each received a $2,500 Award prize from Commonwealth Bank and a trophy.  The Awards night culminated a tremendously successful year with hundreds of nominations received from across Queensland.
