Celebrate the Easter holidays in the picturesque St George region, with two key annual events running over two weekends. Just over a four-hour drive from Toowoomba, backdropped by warm, sunny weather and set against a meandering river, St George is perfect for relaxing with family in the outback.
On the first weekend, prepare for an adrenaline rush brought on by the roar of 6000cc engines kicking up dust in St George. The St George 399 will have the honour of hosting the opening round of the BF Goodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship from April 3 to 5. The competition showcases the best off-road racing competitors, cars and events from around the country. Last year, the championship season saw a record number of entries, with approximately 70 crews competing. This year, the festivities will come to the centre of town with a
street parade and party on Friday 3 April including fireworks, market stalls and live entertainment.
The following weekend, April 11 and 12, will see Easter in the Vines held in the shady gardens of Queenslandβs most western vineyard, Riversands. This is the vineyardβs signature event, which has run for more than 20 years. The event offers a chance to enjoy a glass of Riversands best and relax with family or socialise with friends against the lush vineyard backdrop. Children will enjoy daily Easter egg hunts and colouring-in competitions, face painting and a spot of cricket on the green. Dynamic covers rock band The Missing Link will perform hits from four decades of music. While enjoying the classic rock throwbacks, enjoy delicious cheese platters, homemade scones with special grape jam, mud cake and coffee from the garden cafΓ©. Alternatively, consider firing up the day by cooking your own sizzling barbecue rib fillet β naturally, this will include a glass of wine or beer in hand. The vineyard also will be releasing new vintages and showcasing new labels. Indulge in as much wine as you like, as a courtesy bus will run from the town to the vineyard throughout the weekend. Entry is free but be sure to book a table of 10 or more to receive a complimentary bottle of wine.
