2016 marked the 39th year of celebration for the Easter in the Country festival, once again enticing guests to spend the long weekend soaking up a leisurely lifestyle and celebrate all things country in Roma and Maranoa.
“Oh, it was fantastic! Wonderful! The vision for us before the festival was we wanted people to have fun and feel the friendliness of the bush,” said president of the festival’s organizing committee, Jenny Flynn, “and everything went well, really well.”
But this year was particularly special, as the egg-laden, bountiful Easter bunny delivered not only eggs this year, but something a little more.
The Maranoa Regional Council launched a wonderful line of souvenirs that sought to capture the spirit and essence of Maranoa and Roma. Whether it is a mug, magnet, stubby cooler or bumper sticker, the design of each piece was inspired by the artwork of local artist Dianne Gibson. Her work on these trinkets depicts Roma to Mungallala, through to Mt Moffatt and the Carnarvon Gorge. Each piece aims to raise awareness of the Maranoa Region and ultimately bolsters tourism through the area.
Even though the Easter in the Country festival came to a close after the long weekend, these keepsakes are still available through the Maranoa Regional Council.
