Startup Toowoomba will participate in the biggest Startup competition in the world at the inaugural Startup Weekend from 14 to 16 November. The weekend is no talk and all action with participants able to launch a Startup venture in 54 hours.

Startup Toowoomba co-founder David Masefield said the opportunities for budding entrepreneurs were unparalleled. “In just one weekend people can pitch ideas, form teams, build and launch their very own business or venture,” Mr Masefield said. “The sky’s the limit really,” he said. “All you need is enthusiasm and a little creativity. Business or tech experience is not necessary because all participants are mentored throughout the weekend by some of Toowoomba and Australia’s best minds.”

Toowoomba also gets its chance on the big stage. Running as part of Global Startup Battle, Toowoomba will compete with more than 200 other Startup Weekends around the world. Winners from Toowoomba’s weekend can go on to compete within their region and then the world.

“Toowoomba is experiencing unprecedented growth at a time when exciting things are happening globally,” said Startup Toowoomba co-founder Leanne Griffin. “People are looking for more opportunity, more inspiration and more flexibility in their lives,” Ms Griffin said. “Startup Weekend offers a chance for all of this no matter who you are. Dreamer, designer or businessman you can get creative, have fun and make a difference to the Toowoomba landscape,” she said.

The Startup Weekend Toowoomba will be held at The Grid, Hybrid Arts Collective from 14 to 16 November. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting the Startup Toowoomba website www.startuptoowoomba.com.au
