Young Fairholme riders shine at 2012 National Interschool Equestrian Championships.
More than 300 of Australia’s most promising young riders assembled at the Toowoomba Showgrounds for seven days of competition at the recent National Equestrian Championships. Fairholme’s Equestrian Captain Anna Bourne and Year 8 boarder Anna Elder proudly represented Queensland in the competition. They both competed strongly throughout the Championships and produced outstanding results. As members of the largest team with 118 entrants, the two riders competed in the Showman class and the Challenge class which combines a number of disciplines. Anna Elder was named Australian Champion riding Dookami Hocus Pocus in the 60cm Showman class, finishing well clear of her competitors. With a combined score of 323, she finished over 22 points ahead of her competitors from South Australia and New South Wales. Given that Anna is only in Year 8, this was an outstanding performance against girls much older than her. Anna placed a credible 7th in the challenge class which was the final event of the championships. With these combined results from the week-long competition, Anna was awarded the title of Supreme Champion in the Showman class beating all riders who contested this category. Equestrian Captain Anna Bourne finished just outside the placings in both of her events, only two points below the 2nd and 3rd placed riders in the Showman class 85cm to finish 4th on her horse Unicorn Park Revenge and placing 4th in the Challenge class.
