An Evening with the Wallabies

Held on the eve of the iconic O’Callaghan Cup First XV match between Downlands College and Toowoomba Grammar, the cocktail-style dinner event An Evening with the Wallabies will see past students and previous Wallabies, Tim Horan, Brett Johnstone, Brett Robinson and Garrick Morgan entertain guests in a Q&A panel.
Mr Johnstone and Mr Robinson were members of the Downlands First XV who earned a hard-fought 22-8 victory at the 1986 O’Callaghan Cup. Mr Horan had to watch the match from the sidelines due to injury, however, he and Brett frequently formed a lethal combination. In 1987, Mr Morgan joined Mr Horan and Mr Johnstone and coach Mr John Elders to develop Downlands First XV into an excellent team – possibly one of the finest the college has ever produced.
Now Director of Coaching at Downlands, Mr Garrick Morgan expects this year’s Evening with the Wallabies to be another stand-out event, “We look forward to welcoming you with traditional rugby warmth and good humour to celebrate all that is rugby union, including the forthcoming World Cup in Japan and celebrating current students’ achievements.”
