Toowoomba’s inaugural Flaunt the Flower competition was held over the carnival of flowers weekend. Joint winners were a quilt “Henry” by Jill Kennett and a metal and timber piece “Water Restrictions” created by Helen McConville. Second Prize was won by Gail Grunske, for her beautiful wool and silk felt-piece. Organisers Debbie Dieckmann and Barb Nimmo were delighted by both the number and high standard of entries. The competition was judged by public choice and created much interest by the visiting public, with the money from all purchased votes, and competition entry fees, supporting the drought appeal.
