The Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and CatholicCare Social Services have joined forces to renew the Future Leaders Mentoring Program (FLMP) in 2021. Hailed as a successful platform for individual personal and business growth for the region’s future leaders, the program is all about helping our up-and-coming business operators to thrive, meet their goals and go after their dreams.

The program to be run over 12 months will include monthly meetings between mentees and mentors, six workshops throughout the year covering topics such as leadership, mental health in the workplace, business strategy and financial acumen. Expressions of interest will be released in July for both mentors and mentees.

Toowoomba Chamber Vice President and Future Leader Advisory Group Lead, Chris Black said, “The FLMP aims to foster connections between the younger members of our business community (mentees) and the best leaders that our region has to offer (mentors). “It is about supporting future leaders of our region in their career development as well providing a forum to give back to the small business community, which is the driving force of our community,” said Mr Black.

Chief Executive Officer of CatholicCare Social Services, Kate Venables said, “We are delighted to partner with the Toowoomba Chamber on this initiative to build the potential of our future business leaders. “Mentoring is an important career development strategy, which allows a mentor to share their expertise and leadership knowledge with a mentee in a safe learning environment. “We anticipate mentees will learn new skills, gain confidence, obtain personal insights and learn ways to help them on their way to fulfill their dream and deliver in the local business community,” said Kate.

Jacob Carlile of Qld Hot Property and member of the Toowoomba Chamber’s Future Leader Advisory Group said, “This is a great career development opportunity which will lead to establishing long lasting connections in the business community. “I urge all aspiring business leaders under 35 to get involved in the program,” Jacob said.
