Gabbinbar Homestead has won Caterer of the Year at the 2018 Queensland and Northern Territory Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence (R&CA).

Gabbinbar Homestead manager Renee Currie says her team of chefs, front of house staff and wedding planners have put a huge amount of passion into each wedding the Homestead hosts. “Our historic venue is spectacular, but so is our hospitality. We strive to deliver an unparalleled wedding experience with exceptional service and an abundance of delicious food,” said Renee. More than 150 local restaurants, cafes and catering businesses gathered to celebrate the achievements of their peers who were judged in over 37 categories, with the winners announced at the Awards for Excellence ceremony held at the Royal International Convention Centre.

The Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised, independently judged awards program that celebrates exceptional service and culinary talent across the state. The Awards for Excellence is the only program in Australia where the judging criteria is determined by consumers who rank what is important to them in the dining experience. R&CA CEO Juliana Payne says, “Gabbinbar Homestead should be proud of their achievements. Running a hospitality business isn’t easy, there’s a lot of blood, sweat and tears that go into to making it work,” said Juliana. “When you get the right mix of staff, produce and service, the results can be extraordinary.”

In addition to winning 2018 Queensland Caterer of the Year, Gabbinbar Homestead also won 2018 Wedding Caterer and 2018 Function/Convention Centre Caterer. Gabbinbar Homestead will now compete with other region finalists at the National Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence to be held at Luna Park in Sydney on Monday 29 October.
