A wet start on Friday and a ridiculously windy weekend greeted visitors to Gardenfest on the first weekend in May.

This year’s event was certainly down on crowed numbers as a result. However those that attended were certainly impressed with the effort that the various clubs and societies put in to their displays. The clubs included

  • Toowoomba Orchid Society
  • Toowoomba Rose Society
  • Toowoomba and district Heritage Rose Society
  • Toowoomba Bonsai Society
  • Leafmore Garden Club
  • Toowoomba Floral Art Group

The rose growers in particular had timed the flowering of their roses to produce a great display which formed their annual autumn competition. Stunning roses were the result.

Where to for Gardenfest 2015? Well I think there will be a lot of soul searching looking for the spark that will attract more exhibitors and more visitors. Commercial exhibitors were significantly down from previous years and the poor attendance did little to improve the feeling of those businesses attending.

Anyway thumbs up to those hardy souls who did attend and especially to the clubs and societies who as always put in their great displays.

If you have any gardening events coming up please let us know – we are interested…..
