The Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) is set to host an unforgettable Australia Day this year at Warwick’s Great Australian Bites. The festivities will showcase live acts and pop up food stalls serving true-blue local produce from the Southern Downs and beyond.
Great Australian Bites is an annual, Queensland government supported, event that brings remote, rural and regional hubs to life as local cafes, restaurants and food outlets serve up delectable tasting plates, showcasing the very best of Queensland produce, while home grown musicians hit the stage, delivering lively entertainment for all. This year Warwick will be hosting a spectacular street-party-style celebration full to the brim with food stalls serving true-blue local produce alongside delicious wines and beer from the Southern Down and surrounding areas.
The musical line-up is bound to have guests counting down the days to the party with legendary Australian songwriter Neil Murray (Warumpi Band) and renowned tribute act Gold Chisel joining local acts Sleeping Dogs, The Fern Brothers and Witch Doctor to get toes tapping and hands clapping. Warwick’s Great Australian Bites party is the ultimate showcase of the regions best, not only in produce but in community, at the forefront guests will reconnect with old friends, make new ones and have the opportunity to embrace and return the supportive, welcoming nature of the local people. Not to mention the best street-food vendors from across Queensland will be serving up a smorgasbord of tasty sensations. From American BBQ to fresh local pizzas, fish and chips, good old Aussie pies, and a great range of delicacies for the sweet-tooth.
