Commencing as a joinery business prior to 1900, Thomas Stephen Burstow had humble beginnings creating furniture and timber goods.

At the time, Thomas extended the business to produce coffins for the community, before he moved into the role of undertaker, caring for the needs of grieving families in his community.

T.S. Burstow Funerals Pty Ltd was established in 1900, and continues to be owned and operated by the Burstow family. Current directors Trevor and Don Burstow say that the fifth generation family business

has seen remarkable growth over the past century.“On our 100th anniversary, we opened the doors to the new T.S. Burstow Funeral Home, Chapel and Catering facility, regarded by grief experts as setting a benchmark in bereavement care,” says Don.

Current Chairman of the Pacific Group of the International Selected Independent Funeral Homes Association, Don is passionate about helping families begin healing. “An effective funeral honours life, comforts those who mourn, and declares to the community that each life is important,” says Don.

Today, the Burstow family business continues to grow, having welcomed Don’s

daughterLaura and son Benjamin, and Trevor’s son Scott. The business now offers in-house multimedia services for families, including commercial printing, cinematic audio-visual, and web-streaming of services from the chapel. “We are progressing toward our ultimate project, to incorporate a 400-seat auditorium with the option of private catering, or catching up in the café,”
says Don.

For Don and the Burstows team, this is all part of their mission to provide the highest quality funeral services to families in the Downs Region and beyond.
