Did you catch the blackboard installation along the Margaret and Dent St walkway between Grand Central and Garden town?
Arts Council Toowoomba (ACT) believes our public spaces can better reflect what’s important to us as residents and members of the community.
ACT asked to share personal ideas in chalk on specially designed and painted plywood blackboards. The initiative created community conversations, recorded local history and gave residents and visitors a chance to express themselves.
This project reinvigorated the centre of Toowoomba at the site of such devastation in January 2011. On 10 January, the third anniversary of the 2011 floods, Councillors Sue Englart, Carol Taylor, Geoff McDonald and Ros Scotney wrote on the boards as well.
