Registrations are now open for Industry Connect 2018, a free workshop program aimed at individuals 15 years and older striving for a career in the music industry. Run by QMusic, Industry Connect is a statewide professional development program for both aspiring and current Queensland artists and industry workers. The six part workshop program will take participants through the process of setting up a music industry business and releasing a song into the market. QMusic, Queensland’s music industry development association, established Industry Connect with the assistance of experienced music industry professionals to help anyone 15 years and over build the knowledge and relationships they need to succeed.
Topics covered in the workshops include digital marketing, distribution, publicity, and merchandising. Likewise, the workshops are facilitated by a diversity of industry professionals, including publicists, artist managers, artist and repertoire representatives, music strategists, and producers. Participants will have theirΒ music heard by artist and repertoire representatives from Australian record labels, and will be considered for exclusive showcase opportunities.Β The program is complemented with exclusive travel grants and festival performance opportunities for musicians throughout the year.
BIGSOUND bursaries will be responsible for covering delegate passes, flights, and accomodationΒ for six Industry Connect participants to attend BIGSOUND Festival later this year, where they will be able to expand their networks and learn from some of the best minds around the globe. Since launching in 2017, the program has helped 556 artists and music industry practionersΒ navigate the contemporary music industry landscape. 2018 will see Industry Connect cater to an even greater number of regions, expanding to Toowoomba, Ipswich, Maroochydore, and Noosa for the first time, and returning to Cairns, Brisbane, Nambour, and the Gold Coast.To commence the 2018 program, QMusic will welcome anyone in the music sector to attend an industry wide networking night. QMusic’s popular Hookup series is a chance for local artists and industry workers to interact and ask questions about Industry Connect.
