It’s A Bloke Thing Toowoomba will be sponsored by the Focus HR team on Monday 3 September at Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport. In the lead up to the popular luncheon event, Focus HR is hosting a free educational Roadshow event on Tuesday 24 July, offering an information session and connection opportunity for men and women to know more about prostate cancer.

Managing Director at Focus HR Naomi Wilson said the cause was close to the team’s heart, with prostate cancer being one of the most common internal cancers in Australian men, and the second leading cause of death in Australian males. “More than 16,660 men were diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and 3452 lost their battle with the disease in 2017,” said Naomi. Continuing on, Naomi expressed that 1.7 million Australian men will be living with Prostate Cancer by 2030 but early detection leads to a 98 per cent survival rate beyond five years, meaning her aim is to educate the public and change their mindset about the disease. “We all have fathers, sons, brothers, colleagues and friends who need to hear this message,” she said.

It’s a Bloke Thing is a not-for-profit (NFP) foundation that hosts annual fundraising and awareness-raising events for prostate cancer research, care and education. The events include the highly anticipated annual Qantas It’s A Bloke Thing Prostate Cancer Luncheon which commenced in Toowoomba and is now the largest day-time fundraising event in Queensland.
