Toowoomba residents Bill Smith and Charles Clarke have been recognised for their combined 78 years of volunteering as Justices of the Peace (JP).

Member for Toowoomba South David Janetzki MP presented Smith with a commemorative certificate marking his 40 years service as a JP. Smith has worked in sales at Pacific Seeds for the past 31 years. “He is deeply respected across the industry for his generosity, expertise and photography for which he is well-known,” Cr Janetzki said.

Clarke received a commemorative certificate for his long service as he became a JP 38 years ago. Clarke enjoys travelling Australia with his wife after retiring from the army five years ago. “Charles has dedicated his life to serving our nation and I applaud him for his efforts as a JP too,” Cr Janetzki said.

Cr Janetzki congratulated both men on their achievements. “The combined total of years of service Bill and Charles have dedicated to volunteering as a JP is impressive and I commend them for their continued service to our community,” he said. “JPs perform vital legal functions for our community and I thank these volunteers for their service. I take my hat off to them, they are the kind of character that makes Australia great.”
