Super Earths Discovered a painting by Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox was selected as a finalist for the Stanthorpe Art Prize (March-April 2014).
It was reported in 2013 that astronomers discovered a nearby star system with 3 possible ‘Super-Earths’ within the habitable zone around the star. Kathryn was inspired by this and created Super Earths Discovered. “In my painting Super-Earths Discovered a mountainous landscape is shadowed by a massive ‘planet’,” Karthyn says. “The orientating mountainous landscape, whilst Earth-like, may not be Earth. It may be one of the newly discovered Super-Earths!”
The award was judged by QAGOMA curator Angela Goddard at the Stanthorpe Art Festival. See website here
