Local Katie Davidson has officially been named this year’s face of Weetwood. Davidson was chosen from an “overwhelming response of applicants,” said Blair Odgers, CEO of Toowoomba Turf Club. The face of Weetwood will represent the Turf Club at all Weetwood associated events including the prestigious Audie Centre Toowoomba Weetwood race day held on 2 May 2015. “The community is extremely proud of this event and Katie will represent the Weetwood with confidence, style and sophistication,” Odgers said.
Davidson has attended the Weetwood for the past 10 years, “I enjoy being part of community events and experiencing what the Darling Downs has to offer,” she said. As a qualified milliner and fashion enthusiast the races give Davidson an opportunity to show off her skills while enjoying the community event. She is a consistent entrant in the Fashions of the Field competition and last year won the Hannas Classic Women’s Racewear competition. Davidson entered the Face of Weetwood competition to enhance her involvement in the community combined with her genuine love of the races. “This is an invaluable opportunity to meet new people, challenge myself to try new things and help promote a historical and premier event for the region,” Davidson said. A very proud Odgers said, “It is humbling to witness young ladies in our community that are so passionate about racing and in particular, racing at Clifford Park.”
As part of her new role, Davidson has also been awarded an extensive prize list, including being dressed by Hannas Toowoomba for all Weetwood engagements, an Audi for a weekend and a Sydney getaway.
