Toowoomba human resources firm Focus HR was presented with the Champion Business Services award at the Australian Small Business Champion Awards last weekend. The awards, which began in 1999, seek to highlight and recognise the hard work of business owners and their contributions to the local community as well as the Australian economy. Focus HR was founded in 2011 by mother of two Naomi Wilson, who after working in the human resources industry for 10 years, decided to step out on her own and share her passion for great people practices with others. “I originally hoped to find about 20 hours per week to keep myself busy, but I didn’t realise how much demand there was and it took off from there,” said Naomi.

Now employing seven full time staff and consultants, Focus HR has fruitfully grown into a business that Naomi can be proud of. “My team and our amazing clients make every day fulfilling. Some of our clients have been with us right from the start and it’s our pleasure to be invited on the journey of growth and success with each of them,” she said. This is not the first time that Naomi and her team at Focus HR have been recognised for their successful business endeavours. They have also received accolades from the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce annual Business Excellence Awards in the Professional and Business Division, as well as winning the prestigious Business Consultancy Services Award.

Focus HR were in great company at the Australian Small Business Champion Awards with two other local Toowoomba businesses, Blooming Gorgeous and Excavation Equipment Toowoomba, being nominated this year. “It was nice to be able to all sit together at the awards and take it all in as a group,” she said.
